I don't think I'd ever spent a night on Rottnest Island, off the coast of Western Australia before, so when I had the chance this past December I made sure to make the most of it. For the most part the island is quite rural, except for a couple of small townships and old army barracks. At the North-East end of the island, sits a rather picturesque lighthouse, protecting from the reefs offshore. There weren't too many clouds on the island, and so I focussed my work on the colour in the scene in front of me. Colour was a strong focus of mine during the time, as I worked to shoot an abstract series exploring how it can affect us.
I can't wait to return to this place again. There aren't too many people here most of the time -- it's a wonderful place to call your own and relax with the world.
